LS: Introduce the Main Character.

[Comments Closed]

A young teen is stirred from their sleep as dawn arrives; punctuated with the sounds of a typical morning's start. A noisy alarm clock manages to ring itself off the bedside table, bouncing to the floor with a clatter before falling silent, causing a dog somewhere in the proximity to go absolutely insane. It's a conscious effort for our character to push themselves out of their comfortable bed, but they manage, sliding out from the covers and quietly walking to the bathroom adjacent to their room.

It's a drowsy start to the day, almost enough for one to pass out on the floor in effort to get back to sleep. But for some reason, our character cannot. There's too much to do today, and too much to ignore for the siren call of sleep to overpower their better sense. Instead, they turn on the faucet, splashing cold water on their face in hopes to fully overcome the lull of dreams that occupied their mind. Drying off with a conveniently placed towel, the teen slowly lifted their head, sleepily addressing themselves in the mirror.

Who, or what, do they see?

This is the first post.

The wording and phrasing of some of this might be confusing; purely because I have not mentioned a lot of defining things about the character. We don't know their gender. We don't know their ethnicity. We don't know where they are, where they're living, or any huge things about them.

This is where you come in.

In your comment, make sure to write the "command", and then a sentence of what you want to happen.

Ex: "Main Character: See self.
You are a ___ with ___ hair and ___ eyes, ___ skin and missing your signature ___."

Don't feel the need to EXACTLY copy that format. But something along those lines would be nice.

I look forward to writing something awesome next week!! :)

  1. Main Character: See Clown Face

You stare into the mirror, and see clown makeup painted all over your face, which is strange for you since you usually have no paint on your face. Man you must have been drunk last night.

  2. You look into the reflective surface of the mirror, your dark hair is severely disheveled. Your green eyes are clouded with sleep as you blindly search for your hipster glasses. You are finally locate the evil shades, you pale hands grabbing them and placing them on you face sloppily. You look your lanky form up and down in the full-length mirror, you were not the average teenage boy, to say the least.

  3. Main character: Realize the ramifications of what you did last night.
Whatever you were expecting to do last night, you're pretty sure it didn't involve getting attacked by a giant snake-cat with a death wish. Or...surviving an attack from a giant snake-cat with a death wish. You check your arm and, yep, there's the bite it gave you. Noticing something under the bed, you look down and realize that's not the only souvenir you have from the attack.
How are you going to explain a giant, scaly cat head to Mom?!

  4. MC: View reflection.

Your large, dark brown eyes blink look sleepily back at you. Absentmindedly you rub your hand on your cheek, which is a light brown color like milky coffee, like the rest of your skin. Your reddish-brown hair falls in straight, glossy waves around your face, managing to get tangled and fall in your eyes as always. For what feels like the thousanth time, you think vaguely of cutting it short.

((You are a teenage girl with vaguely Indian or Arab looks, and not devastatingly pretty, whatever my above post might have implied. You are missing your ring, which you always wear, even to sleep - but for some reason, you weren't wearing it tonight. The ring should probably be mentioned in another way than my above paragraph.))

  5. MC: Stare at that bigass, wall-covering bookshelf of yours.
God damnnit. Something seems missing, out of place, lost, even.Y You examine your bookshelf from the shop on your bed, looking at the most expensive, sentimental, or rare copys you have lined up on that thing. You happen to notice that your /only/ copy of 'How to Kick the Supernatural Butt, Vol.1', by Samuel Pulsifer, Ghostwrangler, is missing. Oh shitfuck, that thing was like your version of a bible. Why? Because you hunt the supernatural, making sure life goes swimmingly for the everyone else. It's the family business- even your dog is in on it.
You run your hand though your hair, which is a shade of orange that doesn't look so orange. Your sister, who's considering to /leave the family buisness, why would you do that of all things/, calls your hair a 'stawberry-ey color'. You dissagree. Heck, you'd rather be called carrottop than 'Miss Strawberry'. It's to girly for you.
Oblivously, you are a teenage girl with short, not so orangey hair, and a set of two, foresty-green eyes (In your line of buiness, the number of eyes you have are important- your dear ol' daddy lost one of his eyes in a fight with a troublesome poltergeist.). By your looks, you sterotypically have some sort of family in Ireland or the UK, which is definently true. You have 'good' cheekbones and a very European face, which, you guess, is moderately pretty, even though you've been raise in America's backwoods. You're missing your guidebook, volume one of 'How To Kick the Supernatural Butt' by Samueal Pulsifer, and that is like your signature thing. You never leave home without it.

(Bloh, blah, bluh, it's Grey posting, by the way.)

  6. MC: Look Into Mirror and Choose Appearance

You look into the mirror at your natural appearance, and grimace. Your uneven, coarse blonde hair is tangled, your beady blue eyes bloodshot, and your lily-white skin somehow even more pale than usual. You look at the huge array of bottles in front of you, ranging in color from a bright, obnoxious pink to dull brown. Some are elongated and ornately decorated, that break easily, while others are stout and hard. All of them have brightly colored fumes slowly rising from the top. You pick out a thin, long green one and a round purple ball, and carefully unscrew the lids of both, before pouring a little bit of each into a nearby cup. You quickly drink the toxic liquid, and stare into the mirror in fascination as your awkward, ugly face transforms into something beautiful.

  7. Main Characteur:
The pain settles as your mop of mossy hair stops shivering as the needle enters the vein. Your breath snakes in the cold you inject and feel a nice fluid feeling within your arm.

  8. MC: Actually wakes up

You blink again, and again see that sleepy, chocolatey complexion, but without clown makeup. You check your arm again, just to make sure you aren't still dreaming, and are relieved to find it smooth and unbroken by scratches or bites. For you, there is a blur between fantasy and reality, often eliciting scolding from your decidedly down to earth parents.

MC: Tries to make heads and tails of last night

What HAD happened? You can only remember bits and parts of it... the sirens. The blood. The unforgiving moon...
And you realize. Your family is dead.
