Consider it done.
From the moment you woke up, you haven't been in a very delightful mood. The sun is too bright, the birds are too loud, and for heaven's sake, what is that infernal racket outside your window? It takes you a moment to maneuver through the minefield that is your room, but once you make it over and gingerly open the blinds, you see some small children playing in your house's yard. You consider being that one angry neighbor that hates small children, but you don't have it in you to be so cruel. Interested no longer, you turn away.
While you journey back to your bathroom, you once again get to the topic at hand. What should you do? It's obviously quite early in the morning, and you have no reason to let it go to waste. As a matter of fact, you can't let it go to waste. You're the kind of person who loves nice weather, after all. You tick down a list of friends easily until only two are left, both with their own distinct benefits and deficiencies.
Firstly, you could call Kait.
Kait isn't exactly your typical kind of girl. Dangerous, unpredictable, and the most beautiful girl you had ever seen in your life. When you entered your line of work at the ripe age of 10, you were introduced to Kait, who was to be your companion throughout your time with the agency. For some reason, all of the high-ranking officials thought that your pairing was absolutely insane. It wasn't until your first mission with the girl that you finally found out why.
You thought people had been pulling your leg when they had warned you about Kait. There was no way a young and pretty girl like your partner could be a demon, you laughed.
You were dead wrong.
As it turned out, Kait had rebelled against her own kind. She was sick of being raised to hate humans. She despised all the prejudices her kin had with the lowlifes. And so, she joined the agency's cause to stop the all-consuming underground war being waged with humanity.
She wasn't the only one to join the agency, oh no. Kait was one of many. And you were lucky enough to be paired up with the now-drop-dead-gorgeous girl. You often found yourself dreaming about being with her. Fighting by her side on some days, but on others, to be the one who she gave her complete affection.
The latter privilege was given to another guy, who happened to be your second option.
Marvin McLawson, or M&M, is a good guy that you've known since 2nd grade. He's an idiot half the time, but he's always got your back, and is the best bro you could ever hope for. Hell, he's probably one of the most balanced people in your hectic, secretive life. Ever since the beginning of your friendship, he's trusted you. And you've trusted him in return, and have been able to push through a lot of barriers together. The agency, your shadow life and your demon hunting exploits, however, are things that you've had to deal with painfully alone.
This same Marvin McLawson is the man lucky enough to have Kait wrapped around his arm nearly all day at school. It makes you jealous sometimes, but you're not allowed to say anything. You and Kait don't even know each other on the surface anyway. It was decided that if you two were as far apart as possible on the social ladder, people wouldn't have a thought if both of you left the room at the same time. They would assume that you were doing totally different things. That you had totally different lives. Even your best friend Marvin avoids talking about Kait when you're around, just because he thinks that you don't actually know her aside from her public image.
So, who will you call? Marvin, or Kait?
