MC: Remember.

[Officially switching to Second Person.]

It's hard for you to concentrate, but things are slowly coming back. It had been a normal Saturday night, hanging out with a couple of friends before coming home exhausted. Your parents hadn't even given you a hard time about staying out late, allowing you a quiet entrance to your room before you ultimately passed out. You had slipped into more casual wear for sleeping and settled into your comforter happily before a dreaded noise disturbed your peace. Looking back at how the events yesterday had unfolded, you almost wish you hadn't answered the phone.

"Thank god you picked up!" Your operator exclaimed as soon as you pressed the receive button. You didn't like where that was going, especially the fact that they were calling you so late at night.
"Yeah, whatever. What's going on?"
"We've got a case at Union Park. Another Kasha showed up. There was a biker accident and someone was killed, but when the guy responsible tried calling the police, it came outta nowhere and mauled the crowd. Clean up crews are on the way, but you have to take care of the beast before then."
"...Got it."

You flipped the phone closed hurriedly in case the informant on the other side tried giving you anymore sappy pep-talks. You hated those almost as much as you hated missing sleep. But duty called, and you were obliged to reply. Slipping on a shirt and stepping into the jeans you are currently wearing, you cracked open your bedroom window and dropped two stories into your backyard, glancing around worriedly in case someone saw. Of course, nobody was sulking outside at 11 at night, so you were safe.

The run to Union Park had been shorter than your last assignment. It was only a mile and a half from your house; easier than the 6 you had gone the other day for Central Station. But regardless, the scene upon your arrival was almost exactly the same as the previous.

A large demon was chasing a bloodied man around in the grass of the park. He was screaming clearly enough that even you could hear him from a distance away, causing your eyes to droop irritably. I really want to go to sleep, you had thought, pulling up a mask to cover your nose and mouth while flipping your hood to conceal the rest of your face.

The fight had been noteworthy. Albeit being a lower-class demon, about C or D you guessed, it put up a good spirit. Not that it mattered, with you being of easily S rank or higher. The only reason you had been so easily scarred was the fact that you were tired and not all that threatened, playing with the poor thing more than anything. The cat-snake had no chance from the moment it locked its iridescent eyes on you, abandoning its other prey. Man, it should've just minded its own damn business. You hated hurting animals, even if they were of the demonic kind.

By the time you got home and reported your success to your operator, it was 3 in the morning. Your parents were sound asleep, naive to your expedition in the dead of night, eliciting jealousy from your sleep-deprived self. Your tattered shirt was of little use by that point, charred, soiled and ripped, so you threw that away brashly before collapsing into bed, not even remembering that you were going to smear blood all over the place. You were bruised from the whipping of the demon's tails, the burns from its rough scales scraping against your skin.

It wasn't a wonder why you were hurt so bad. But you were still stuck on how to explain all of these things to your parents. After all, the last one had been the excuse of getting into a fight with some jerks at school. These... would be a little harder to cover up.

Faintly, from your position in front of your bathroom mirror, you can hear a voice drifting upstairs from the kitchen. You don't dare open your door in fear that your father might be silently standing outside, waiting for you, so you decide to listen to what the voice is saying.

It's your name... isn't it?

What is your name?
