You blanch a little at your thought process from earlier. The dude is your best friend. How could you even THINK of being jealous of him? And Kait is your partner at the Agency! Besides, she's way out of your league. Sometimes, you don't even understand yourself. But you do understand that you are really, really hungry. And that you're going to call your goddamn best friend already, because you've actually been leaving him hanging lately, what with your obnoxious jealousy. Damn, you're stupid sometimes.
You walk to your bed stand and pick up the home phone, giving it a glance before heading towards your closet. Looks like your dad isn't on the line, so you punch in the all-too-familiar number before putting the receiver against your ear and tucking it into your shoulder.
It begins to ring as you open the door to a jungle of colors and wire. You pick out a comfortable dark green shirt and resolve to put it on later before ditching the hanger on the pile of discarded shirts that formulated due to your regular indecisiveness with fashion. You reach a voice mailbox as you shut the gateway to the uncharted territory.
"Hey, you've reached M&M, Thing Two of the McMorons! Couldn't catch your call because I'm pro'lly doing something awesome; so just gimme a ring later! Don't forget to leave a me--"
You hang up before his automated idiocy can continue.
With a sigh, the phone is tossed askew, landing with a clatter on the floor. Seems likes it's going to be a lazy Sunday after all, you think, scratching your head before addressing your hunger once more. You remember you illegally stashed a box of Cheerios somewhere in the habitat that is your dressing area. A curse is uttered as you then remember that your mother caught you in the heinous act.
Looks like a confrontation with your parents and potential guests is unavoidable if you want to get food.
How will it go down?

Cole: Clean yourself up!
ReplyDeleteYou're still injured. You'd better clean yourself up so you don't look like you've just been battling a demon if you're going to head downstairs. Didn't Kait teach you how to cast a glamour or something...?
Or, failing that, you can just wear long sleeves and pants (despite the sunny day outside) to cover your injuries. You pick the easiest route, clean up, and then go downstairs.
Your parents are eating breakfast (waffles, but they're almost gone, your keen eyes note), which is hardly unusual... But what is unusual is who's eating breakfast with them, calmly biting a waffle like nothing's wrong. Like they hadn't just showed up in your house, eating your breakfast. Like you weren't worst enemies.
They look up at you where you stand, frozen, at the bottom of the steps. One eyebrow is raised ironically, one corner of the mouth twitches up in a smirk. How did they find you here?
He quietly walks down the stares making sure that he doesn't startle his parents. He walks into the kitchen with his mother arguing his father about work. His father turns toward him and demands to know why he was called from school today about why he doesn't pay attention in class and why he tends to leave class and never come back.
